Pysanka with Father Paul Luniw

Help Ukraine while honoring their beautiful Easter tradition.

Arts Escape is honored to be working with Father Paul Luniw to offer another Ukrainian egg making workshop. A pysanka is a Ukranian Easter Egg that is decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using wax and dyes. The word pysanka comes from the verb pysaty, "to write" or as the designs are inscribed with beeswax. Father Paul will give a brief lecture about the history of Ukrainian egg making and then will demonstrate the methods that will be used to make the creation.

Father Paul will have Pysanky eggs to sell after the workshop with the proceeds going toward Ukranian relief efforts. Father Paul has been sending help to Ukraine through his church, St. Michael Ukranian Church in Terryville, CT. We will be collecting cash/check donations for that effort.

This class is limited to 24 participants.

CLASS DATE & TIME: Tuesday, March 28 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

COST: $35 per person plus supply costs up to $30 for painting the pysanka eggs.

LOCATION: Arts Escape, 493 Heritage Road., Suite 4C, Southbury
