Sketching is frequently used by artists for drawing or painting as a part of their creative process. … Observation: this focuses on the documentation of the external world to use as references for future work. Throughout much of history, Drawing was regarded as the foundation for artistic practice. Drawings in dry media often use similar techniques, though pencils and drawing sticks can achieve continuous variations in tone. The artist's choice of drawing strokes affects the appearance of the image. Typically a drawing is filled in based on which hand the artist favors. This 6– week class is designed to help student’s observe and quickly document their observations through sketching followed by a finished drawing. Students will learn both sketching and drawing techniques in the first 4 classes. The last 2 classes students will work on their own personal piece with guidance from the instructor. Previous students are welcome in this class, new exercises will be taught.
