Independent Acrylic Open Studio Options

The Open Studio Workshop is for all levels of acrylic painters with award-winning artist, Anda Styler. The class is designed for students to work at their own pace with the guidance of the instructor in a warm non-judgmental environment. Acetate overlays will be used during individual instruction. Anda will also supply reference photos prior to class for those students who would prefer to work on the same painting as the instructor. Students are required to bring their own supplies. Paper towels and water containers are provided.

The fee for the five-week session is $295 or students are welcome to register as a drop-in prior to the class at $65 per class. Please use the dropdown menu when registering. Workshops are limited to 10 students.

 Artist/ Instructor Anda lives in Sandy Hook, Connecticut and has been painting in oils and acrylics since she was 16. Acrylics, however, remain her favorite medium. Anda graduated from the Parson School of Design and has been devoted to her art ever since. She has many accomplishments in the art world, including interviews with both local and national publications, such as American Art Collector, Who’s Who in America,Country Gardeners Magazine, Victoria Magazine along with numerous awards and recognitions for her work as a painter.
Anda’s paintings and techniques are published in two books by North Light Publications. Her works are currently represented by several galleries in and around New England and to her credit, she has had many one-woman shows with great success. Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago is lucky to have four of her large paintings in their permanent collection.

This monthly writers forum is for beginner and seasoned writers who write for children and young adults. If you are interested in sharing your work for gentle critique and feedback, this monthly group may be just for you. This is a great opportunity to share your work with fellow writers in a positive, non-judgmental format.

Please try to keep pieces to 5 pages, doubled spaced.

***Remember that you never need to make an edit to your piece just because someone suggested it. Your piece is your own.  You only need to take what is most helpful to you.

Tina Tocco’s writing for children has appeared in HighlightsHighlights High FiveCricketAppleSeedsHumpty DumptyTurtle Magazine for Preschool KidsPockets, and other children’s publications. She is the author of the children’s poetry collection The Hungry Snowman and Other Poems (Kelsay Books, 2019). Tina’s fiction, nonfiction, and poetry have also been published in various literary journals and anthologies, such as New Ohio ReviewCrab Creek ReviewPotomac ReviewRiver StyxHarpur PalateOvunque SiamoBest Small Fictions 2019, and Wild Dreams: The Best of Italian Americana. In 2019, she was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in fiction. Tina earned her MFA in creative writing from Manhattanville College, where she was editor-in-chief of Inkwell, the college’s national literary journal.
