Abstract Collage and Painting

This is a 3-hour abstract collage workshop, in which we will be using vintage and handmade papers, and applying paints in varying ways using different mark-making tools. We will focus on composition and contrast, and how color can be used to bring all the elements together.  This class is geared toward all levels of art experience.  All supplies are included, but students are welcome to bring their own papers and paints if they prefer.

The fee for the one-day workshop is $75. Class is limited to 10 students.

Jessica Tell
Fiber Arts, Fine Art & Photography

A native New Yorker and 25-year Connecticut resident, Jessica studied art at Russell Sage College in Troy, NY and Paier College of Art in Hamden, CT.  She has
worked most often in oil, watercolor, and ink. Although her past works were primarily done in sharp-focus, Jessica has recently taken a “deep dive” into abstract art, especially collage. She is also an avid art quilter, and has exhibited her works locally as part of a fiber arts group. A combined interest in art and photography led her to become a judge for local photography competitions, and she frequently uses her own photography in her art works; she particularly enjoys using Photoshop and other computer programs to manipulate images for use in both fiber art and collage.
