Zentangle A Workshop for Beginners and Beyond

This 3-part workshop introduces the Zentangle method through drawing intentional structured patterns and creating beautiful personal works of art. Through the art of doodling, students will learn tangles and simple techniques that will inspire and spark their very own inner artist to glow!  Zentangle is a very portable mindful activity that can be accessed at any time. Not an artist? No worries! No artistic experience is needed!

The second session continues the lessons learned in the first class and builds upon the methods and techniques unique to Zentangle. Students who have completed the beginner class or have some experience in Zentangle can take the second and third session.

The third session will help you hone your skills and try new methods.  Want to take your skills to a 3-dimensional level or work on speciality paper? The sky is the limit!  The instructor will have items available for purchase.  

Students can sign up for one, two or all three sessions!

*Students must be registered and paid in full three business days before the start of the class/workshop.  Exceptions only with permission from Director of Art Programs.

Zentangle II

This class continues the lessons based on the Basic Zentangle course. By drawing intentionally structured patterns, students will use Kothy’s design of The Tree of Life as seen through techniques of Zentangle.

Students who have taken the previous class should bring their supplies. Optionally, all students can purchase supplies as needed. Students will be given the special paper required for the class work.

The fee for the 4-week class is $150. Class size is limited to 15 Students.

*Zentangle – Basics & Beyond

This four-week class introduces the Zentangle method through drawing, intentional structured patterns, and creating beautiful personal works of art. Through the art of doodling, students will learn tangles and simple techniques that will inspire and spark their very own inner artist to glow!  Zentangle is a very portable mindful activity that can be accessed at any time. Not an artist? No worries! No artistic experience is needed!

The Beginner class includes all pens and supplies. The fee for the 4-week, 2-hour class is $140, and the class is limited to 15 students.

Sip & Sign Paint Night – Sunflowers

Grab your bestie and a bottle of bubbly and head to Arts Escape for a different kind of Paint & Sip. Instructor Kothy Hafersat will lead students in a fun and engaging way to create a custom, rustic sign for your home. Students will use a wooden pallet board, acrylics and stencils to customize with your family name, favorite quotation or phrase and other designs. Wine glasses, light snacks and all supplies are included in your registration fee of $65. The class is limited to 20 students. 


About the instructor:

Kothy (not Kathy) lives in Oxford, Connecticut and runs a sign company along with her husband. She is a national educator for three sewing machine companies. Singer, Viking and Pfaff. She is a certified Zentangle instructor and has transformed what she knew in Zentangling to free motion quilting. Kothy also co-owns and runs a pattern company that produces quilt and sewing patterns and is a professional digitizer for the 6D embroidery software company which is sold to use with today’s embroidery sewing machines. In her company (Simply Everything) they also produce training software for the embroidery company.

COVID POLICY – Only fully vaccinated students will be permitted to attend classes. Physical proof of vaccination will be requested on the first day of class or you may email a copy of your card prior to the class by sending it to: info@artsescape.org. Masks are optional.

Egg Painting & Photos with the Easter Bunny

This workshop introduces the art of dot painting to kids and teens which will lead to them creating beautiful works of art on wooden Easter eggs. Through the instruction of intentional dotted patterns, students will learn simple techniques that will inspire and spark their inner artist to grow!  

The class is open to children ages 3 and up. Children under 8 must be accompanied by their parent or guardian. All adults are required to show proof of vaccination. For children and adults, masks are optional. We have smocks available for children and adults.

The class includes 3 eggs to paint/take home plus a photo with the Easter Bunny after class (taken by you with your camera or iPhone). Each child will also receive a goody bag! The fee for the 2-hour workshop is $25 and the class is limited to 15 students.

Zentangle – Beginners Workshop
