This one-day workshop with watercolor artist Leona Gawreluk is for all levels. The class will start with a brief slide show of vintage shell illustrations and a discussion on the composition that makes them unique as pieces of art. Whether it be a single shell or a group arrangement, the emphasis will be placed on composition and watercolor techniques to complete an original painting. Shells will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own from their personal collections. Each student will leave with an original piece of art and suggestions on how to frame it. All supplies are included.
The fee for the one-day, 3-hour workshop is $65 and the class is limited to 12 students.

Leona’s love of botanical art stems from her combined interest in art, gardening and nature. She feels you are never without a subject if you observe the natural world around you. From a young age she has collected antique botanical bookplates, and they continue to be an inspiration for her art. She has studied at the NY Botanical Garden, the Peabody Museum, and with many local award-winning botanical artists in CT and NJ.
COVID POLICY – Only fully vaccinated students will be permitted to attend classes. Physical proof of vaccination will be requested on the first day of class (one time only). Don’t forget to bring your vaccination card. Masks are optional.
