Collage: Painting with Paper with Carol Moore

In this four-week class, students will tear their images without using scissors and experience how to ‘paint from paper’. Bring a fun attitude and go back to being a child and creating with torn paper.

Students are asked to bring:

  • a one inch or 1/2 inch inexpensive brush ( sold as “painter’s brushes”) and
  • 4 -5 colorful  magazines which will be the source for the images. Clothing magazines with lots of solid color are best for this workshop.
  • Satin finish Modge Podge glue. Be sure to purchase the Satin Finish variety.
  • 3-4 art boards, in 4 x 6, 6 x 8, 8 x 10 sizes.

All supplies can be purchased at most hardware, Walmart, or Home Depot stores.

A native New Yorker and 25-year Connecticut resident, Jessica studied art at Russell Sage College in Troy, NY and Paier College of Art in Hamden, CT.  She has
worked most often in oil, watercolor, and ink. Although her past works were primarily done in sharp-focus, Jessica has recently taken a “deep dive” into abstract art, especially collage. A combined interest in art and photography led her to become a judge for local photography competitions, and she frequently uses her own photography in her art works; she particularly enjoys using Photoshop and other computer programs to manipulate images for use in both fiber art and collage.
