Plein Air Painting @ Kettletown State Park

Register

Instructor, Betty Ann Medeiros
Monday, June 29 & Tuesday, June 30
9:30 am - 12 noon

Plein air painting is about leaving the four walls of the studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. The practice goes back for centuries but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists. This two-day workshop is for those students who would like to paint outdoors under the guidance of an instructor. Students will learn about composition, color, value and perspective during the class.

Students will meet at the Kettletown State Park in Southbury, near the swimming area at 9:30am. Students and Instructors will need to abide by the 6 ft social distancing requirements while painting and use their masks when warranted. All students are required to bring their own supplies and be able to walk a short distance on uneven terrain. The fee for the two-day class is $70. The class size is limited to 10 students.

Supplies are: easel, paints (acrylic or oil) brushes, solvents, palettes, paper towels, chair (optional) garbage bag, and hand sanitizer. There is a porta-john available.

Rain date - Monday, July 6th & Tuesday, July 7th.
