Instructor, Betty Ann Medeiros
Thursday, September 17th
9:30 am - 2 pm

Plein air painting is about leaving the four walls of the studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. The practice goes back for centuries but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists. This one-day workshop is for those students who would like to paint outdoors under the guidance of an instructor in watercolor, acrylic or oils.

Students will meet at the Candlewood East Marina parking lot at 9:30 am and choose their painting spot and set up. There will be a short group discussion at 10 am which will include set-up. Betty Ann will walk around and give individual instruction throughout the day on: composition, perspective, color, value, and temperature. These aspects of art are universal for any medium. Betty Ann will help each student define their own personal style while completing a successful painting. Students may bring their lunch or order lunch from the snack bar at the Marina.

All students are required to keep within the social distancing guidelines while painting and use their masks when warranted. All students are required to bring their own supplies and be able to walk a short distance on uneven terrain. The fee for the one- day class is $55. The class size is limited to 10 students.

Supplies are: easel, paints (watercolor, acrylic or oil) brushes, solvents, palettes, paper towels, chair (optional) garbage bag, and hand sanitizer.
