Bringing your photos to life with Photoshop Elements- digital photography editing software program
Some of the most common questions students have are; "how do I get my photos off my camera, into my computer, where do I find them, how to edit, share, and print them. Most people put their photos into their computer and the photos go into the dark hole of obscurity never to be found again. Likewise, when it comes to enhancing your photos most people are at a loss as to where to begin. If you need to crop a photo, change its size for printing or other applications, Adobe Photoshop Elements will serve you well! Adobe Photoshop Elements is the little sibling to its big brother Photoshop.
Adobe Photoshop Elements is an entry level software program that you install on your computer. It allows you to store, catalog, find, edit, and resize your photos. It is user friendly and can be purchased without a subscription for around $100. It has so many features to make your digital workflow and editing fun and unleash your inner artist. This program also gives you the opportunity to breathe new life into your photos and ride the digital photography wave to new horizons with this easy to use creative tool.
This 3-part class will take you through all the different aspects of the digital work flow including importing and cataloging of your photos, cropping, editing and adjusting of your photos as well as exporting, resizing and sharing your photos with the world. A whole new world awaits you with this fun and informative class.
Class 1 Photoshop Elements Organizer - Importing, organizing and finding your photos using Photoshop Elements Organizer.
This class will teach students how to set up your Photoshop Elements catalog including importing photos from your hard drive, creating a folder structure to better organize and find your photos, key-wording your photos, and how to import them from your camera’s memory card.
Topics to include:
*Navigating through the Organizer Window
*Using the Media, People, Places and Events tabs to organize and find your photos.
*Keyword and rating of your photos
*Creating albums to better find you photos
Class 2 - Basic editing of photos using a) Instant Fix in Photoshop Elements Organizer and b) the Quick Edit Basic tab of the Photoshop Elements Editor
*Editing in the Photoshop Elements Organizer. Topics to include: rotating photos, cropping photos, removing red eye, adding effects, smart fix, adjusting lighting, color and clarity
*Editing your photos in the Photoshop Elements Editor. Using the Quick Edit Features
Topics to include: Smart fix for easy image editing, exposure adjustments, shadow/mid-tone/highlight adjustments, hue, vibrancy and color saturation, white balance adjustments and sharpening of photos, applying various textures and filters and frames for artistic expression. Other topics include teeth whitening, making selective edits to isolated parts of your photos and also clone healing of spots and unwanted objects in your photos and applying text to your photos.
Class 3 - Photoshop Elements Editor Guided Editor
*More advanced editing using the Guided Editing Feature. Topic includes:
*Brightness and contrast adjustments, adjust skin tones color, using level adjustments, lighten and darken specific tones of your image, object removal, resizing of photos, straightening your photos, sharpening your photos and adding vignettes to your photos.
*You will learn how to change your file size and file formats to export and share your photos for email and social media platforms and printing etc.
The fee for the 3-week class is $70 and class size is limited to 8 students.
*Students should bring their laptop computers with the program installed. Preferred but not required.
