Christmas is America’s most elaborately and widely-celebrated holiday, even affecting non-Christians in our diverse culture; however, its rites, symbols and sentiments hold almost universal appeal regardless of one’s persuasion. Through the “invention of tradition,” this increasingly secular holiday has helped to define and reflect its character and our own, and it has influenced other religious traditions, such as Chanukah and Kwanza. Join Professor Hunt for this fun, fact filled lecture on the Holidays in America. The fee for the lecture is $15 and seating is limited to 20.
