A cartoon is a type of illustration, possibly animated, typically in a non-realistic or semi-realistic style. The specific meaning has evolved over time, but the modern usage usually refers to either: an image or series of images intended for satire, caricature, or humor; or a motion picture that relies on a sequence of illustrations for its animation. The concept originated in the Middle Ages. Over the course of time, countries around the world have develop their own unique style of cartoons or animation. This 3-week class will examine cartoon styles from 3 different countries. Students will work in that style each week. The goal at the end of the 3 weeks is to have each student create their own unique cartoon character implementing the different cartoon styles. The fee for the 3-week class is $75 and all supplies are included. Class size is limited to 8 students.
