Friday, June 7 & Friday, June 21
10 am - 1:30 pm

Plein air painting is about leaving the four walls of the studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. The practice goes back for centuries but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists. This two-day workshop is for those students who would like to try painting outdoors under the guidance of an instructor. Students will learn about composition, color, value and perspective during the class. Students will meet at the Southford Falls parking lot in Southford promptly at 10 am. Students and instructor will all paint in the same area (pictured) on the first day. The second workshop students are to bring their paintings to the studio for light critique and further work. All students are required to bring their own supplies and be able to walk a short distance on uneven terrain. The fee for the two-day class is $70. The class size is limited to 10 students. Supplies are: easel, paints (acrylic or oil) brushes, solvents, palettes, paper towels, chair (optional) garbage bag, and lunch/snack. Rain date - Friday, June 21 and adjustments will be made for the June 21st critique.
