Friday, July 26 & Saturday, July 27
Friday, 7 pm - 9 pm & Saturday, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

Have you always wanted to explore a looser, bolder approach to painting, but just weren't sure how to accomplish this style in your own work?  Hold tight, because help is on the way!  Loosen up your landscapes using the painterly approach!  In this workshop students will learn practical approaches and techniques to help simplify complex scenes into clear shapes, values, and edges.  Student will then organize these shapes into strong design and color combinations using bold, expressive marks to interpret the environment for that lush painterly effect. Friday evening, Alain will kick off the workshop by demonstrating the painterly approach to the landscape from start to finish while setting the tone for an exciting time of creative exploration together.  On Saturday, students will work from their own reference materials, beginning with morning exercises to loosen up your work and learn techniques to simplify the subject.  Students will progress to loosely finished landscape paintings by end of the day.  A constructive and encouraging group critique will conclude the afternoon workshop.  Students will leave this workshop with clear concepts and practices that will show you HOW to accomplish your goal of creating paintings that will both delight you and excite your viewers. All levels are welcome!  Class size is limited 12 students.  Students may work in pastel, oil or acrylic. The fee for the demo and workshop is $140. Supply list: http://picardstudio.com/supplies
